Have you ever tried using coloured wax to make amazing images?
I have been working with wax and teaching encaustic art for many years and am very keen to pass on the skills which I’ve learnt. Most of my work involves the use of tools such as travel iron, stylus, hairdryer, heatgun and much of it is done on a domestic hotplate. I love using different surfaces -not just card but canvas, fabrics, papers, glass and even copper. Whilst most of my work comprises pictures and cards, I also work with textile and stitch and have been developing a range of wax decorated jewellery. The images I create usually comprise flowers, enchanted landscapes or are abstracts.
I taught encaustic art at Alston Hall for Lancashire County Council adult education for more than 15 years. I also have given talks and workshops to many groups including art clubs, WI and Embroiderers Guild. I have just completed my City and Guilds Part 3 in innovative embroidery and am keen to develop more encaustic work with stitch.
